Jessica De La Cruz (she, her, hers)
Administrative Research Coordinator
Jessica provides faculty and community-based organizations insights for navigating partnership logistics such as setting up invoices, travel arrangements, and reimbursements. She will support event planning and coordination, public communications, among other administrative responsibilities. She is experienced with UCSC administrative processes from a variety of roles across campus and can help faculty save time by administering various necessary aspects of project implementation.
Jessica currently supports five UCSC faculty members who collectively received $9.5 million UCOP Climate Action Grants. Her work is centered around fostering relationships with partnering community based organizations.
Jessica brings a rich set of experiences at UCSC. During her junior and senior year she worked as an investigative research intern for the Human Rights Investigation Lab for the Americas. As an investigative research intern Jessica was taught to conduct open source investigation (OSINT) and co-authored multiple papers regarding human rights issues in South America and the spreading of disinformation about the Black Lives Matter movement.
After graduating from UCSC in 2022 double majoring in Politics and Psychology, Jessica worked as a shared department assistant in the Physical Sciences Division at UCSC for the Microbiology and Environmental Toxicology, Astronomy and Ocean Sciences departments. She couldn’t have predicted how helpful her experience managing different projects and reporting to multiple teams would be in her next position at IST.
