JOY OF GIVING SOMETHING (JGS) FELLOWSHIP

The goals of the IA/JGS Fellows Program are to elevate photography and digital media as pathways for undergraduate students to pursue their careers and to make a difference in their communities. The program specifically aims to support students for whom economic and family circumstances render such career pathways particularly challenging. 

Over the course of the fellowship year, each JGS Fellow will:

• Receive a $2,000 tuition scholarship.
• Receive mentorship and financial support for a community project.
• Attend Imagining America’s National Gathering in Fall 2023. Complimentary registration and travel awards are included.
• Participate in regular, virtual learning exchanges.
• Be connected to the consortium’s national network of scholars, artists, and community organizers.

The application period for the 2023-2024 IA/JGS Fellows cohort is now open. Applications are due by Midnight (PT) on Monday, June 5, 2023. Please submit your application here.


PUBLICLY ACTIVE GRADUATE EDUCATION (PAGE) FELLOWSHIP

The application period for the 2023-2024 PAGE Fellows is now open through June 30, 2023. Learn more in the Application tab below and by attending a May 9 (3pm EST) information session led by PAGE co-directors.

Publicly Active Graduate Education (PAGE) is Imagining America’s (IA) network for publicly engaged graduate students in humanities, arts, and design. PAGE enhances the praxis and pedagogy of public scholarship; fosters a national, interdisciplinary community of peers and veteran scholars; and creates opportunities for collaborative knowledge production. The PAGE consortium, made up of alumni and allies of the program, promotes opportunities for mentorship and peer support from IA’s network.


The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Annual Conference

The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Annual Conference is highly regarded as a vibrant platform to explore and share new ideas. The conference is focused on CUMU member institutions, their community partners, and their work addressing contemporary challenges through dialogue and presentations delivered in a variety of formats that allow for in-depth conversations and actionable next steps.

Expanding Horizons: Inclusive Experiential Education for the Future of Work

Dates: Monday, September 25— Wednesday, September 27, 2023

SEE is excited for our 52nd annual conference – and first conference
fully under the new banner of the Society for Experiential Education – in
gorgeous Orlando, Florida this September! Our conference theme this
year is Expanding Horizons: Inclusive Experiential Education for the
Future of Work, covering topics from study away, K-12 experiential
education, meeting the needs of neurodivergent learners, and so much

2023 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Meeting

Dates: May 31 – June 2, 2023 in Boston, Massachussetts. 

Each year, the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement brings together faculty, student affairs administrators, students,  senior campus leaders, and community partners to advance institutions’ commitment to advancing democracy. This is the only event that convenes this diverse range of stakeholders to ensure that students who graduate from colleges and universities, both public and private, are prepared to be the informed, engaged citizens our communities and democracies need. 

Participants will have opportunities to network and develop their civic-minded thinking and practices through engaging plenary sessions, informative general interest sessions, interactive workshops, and roundtable discussions.

Transforming Futures: Summer Internship Scholarship Program

Application Deadline: May 1st, 2023

The Institute for Social Transformation is excited to offer an internship scholarship program called Transforming Futures. The goal of the program is to open up opportunities and remove financial barriers for first-generation, underrepresented, and low-income students at UC Santa Cruz so they can participate in career-advancing non-credit summer internships. Transforming Futures scholarship awards will be up to $7,500 for summer interns. Award amounts will differ based on financial need and the level of students’ expected summer living expenses.

Immigrant Justice Legal Internship – Unpaid

The Legal Interns work collaboratively within a team of staff including managing and directing attorneys, pro bono counsel, legal assistants, administrative support staff and case managers to provide client-centered, holistic representation. Legal Interns will work under the supervision of a Managing Attorney or Staff Attorney to assist in the representation of clients in removal proceedings. 

This position provides a legal intern the opportunity to gain experience in immigration law during the course of the internship.  The intern will be able to participate in full lifecycle and demands of various types of immigration cases.  The team is flexible and results-based.  The intern will have extensive access to trainings through Catholic Charities CLINIC resources. 

HOW TO APPLY

We accept interns on a rolling basis and interested applicants are encouraged to apply at any time.  Please indicate in your cover letter you desired internship period.  Scheduling and specific job duties are discussed during the interview A minimum commitment of 16 weeks is requested.  Flexible scheduling and remote work are possible.  The primary office location is in Watsonville, CA.
