Vicente Vega (he, him, his)
Administrative Research Coordinator, Institute for Social Transformation and Center for Labor and Community
Vicente provides administrative and financial support for the programs of the Institute for Social Transformation and the Center for Labor and Community. This includes navigating the university’s policies and procedures, as well as supporting research through the purchasing and processing of scholarships and payments. He provides support on the logistical side of event planning, from room reservations to arranging travel for guests.
He has provided administrative support to research projects, like the Young Worker Survey, from processing mileage, ordering materials, and disbursing electronic and physical gift cards for research participants. Through the Center for Labor and Community, he helped to administer the graduate student research grants, getting payment out to students, and also creating the application forms, scoring trackers, and drafting and sending award letters. He also supports event planning, such as the Right Livelihood International Conference.
Vicente graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2015, majoring in Business Management Economics. After graduating, he was the coordinator of the JUSTICE program with Engaging Education at UCSC, working to create a program that could benefit BIPOC students who had been admitted to the University. During his time as a labor organizer at SEIU Local 2015, he represented long-term caregivers in California, empowering members to fight and win strong contracts. It was here that he developed a deep commitment to improving the lives of working people and fostered strong relationships with workers. He also supported his coworkers as a union rep with the Pacific Northwest Staff Union and was an executive board member with the Monterey Bay Central Labor Council.

Vicente supports the following Institute projects:
- California Workplace Outreach Program
- Center for Labor and Community (CLC)
- Corre la Voz
- Emerging Scholar Accelerator Workshops
- Right Livelihood Center
- University of California, Office of the President, Hispanic Serving Institutions Doctoral Diversity Initiative (UC-HSI DDI) in the Latin American and Latino Studies Department
