Center for Statistical Analysis in Social Sciences (CSASS)

Our Work Together

CSASS provides statistical and methodological support to the research missions of all departments within the Division of Social Sciences by providing free statistical consulting and quantitative training workshops.

CSASS provides free advice regarding the design and analysis of quantitative studies. This includes sample size planning, optimal research design, and appropriate methods of statistical analysis. Ideally, researchers would contact CSASS (dgbonett@ucsc.edu) at the early stages of the proposal process to discuss the most appropriate type of design, how the data should be analyzed, and the sample size required to obtain useful statistical results.  CSASS can also  review the Methods and Data Analysis sections of proposals to look for things that might be red flags to reviewers.  Proposals can include a statement indicating that CSASS will provide free statistical consulting for the project.
