The Institute for Social Transformation is an incubator for new ideas and an accelerator for scholarship in the public interest. Social transformation is a collective process that promotes systemic change in institutions, social relationships, and values.
Our approach utilizes three main strategies:
‣Convene thought leaders
‣Catalyze innovative new scholarship
‣Support collaborative interdisciplinary research
Contribute to the institute. Your gift will advance socially relevant research, community engagement, and public scholarship. Our goal now and always is to support faculty in doing high-caliber research, to nurture the critical-thinking skills of our students, and to ensure that our work is useful to society.
“Through the Institute for Social Transformation, we’re building relationships among academics, community partners, and policymakers and activating the potential of research as a foundation for transformative change.”
—Katharyne Mitchell, Dean of Social Sciences
